Shane was born in Anaheim, California, but his family lived in about a dozen different places while he was growing up. He graduated from Washington State University in 2012. Through the Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship there, Jesus gave Shane a heart for ministering to young adults. So, he stayed at his university from 2012 to 2015, doing a campus ministry internship with Chi Alpha and then volunteering for a year. During that time, he met many friends from the Kansai area of Japan and found a passion for welcoming international students. In August 2015, Shane started teaching English in Tokyo, and then God connected him with the Chi Alpha group there in March 2016. Shane joined the Chi Alpha staff in September 2016 and serves in Tokyo, while also still teaching English once a week at a trade school and checking English twice a week for the Engineering department at The University of Tokyo. He met his wife, Aimee, through Chi Alpha here, and they were married in Tokyo in March 2019.
